ODEP Celebrates 10th Anniversary

Real People. Real Impact.

On December 14, 2011, Secretary of Labor Hilda L. Solis and Assistant Secretary of Labor for Disability Employment Policy Kathleen Martinez hosted a major milestone for the Department of Labor – The 10th Anniversary of the Office of Disability Employment Policy (ODEP). Fall 2011 marked a decade since Congress established ODEP, which created, for the first time, an office with a permanent focus on people with disabilities and their integration into the 21st Century workforce.

The event was held in Washington, D.C., with featured speakers and guests including ODEP founders, Anthony Coelho and Rebecca Ogle, as well as United States Senator, Tom Harkin of Iowa and Congressman Steny H. Hoyer of Maryland.  The event was also accompanied by other prominent government, disability and employer community leaders, who joined Secretary Solis and Assistant Secretary Martinez in reflecting upon ten years of ODEP's work and accomplishments.  To learn more, check out the agenda, event speakers, and ODEP’s milestones!
