Contacts for Social Security Beneficiaries:
If you are between 18 and 64 years old and are receiving SSI or SSDI benefits, you are eligible to participate in the Ticket to Work program and other Work Incentives. There are several places you may go to get started:
1. Call a benefits planner in your area
A benefits planner near you can help you understand how entering the workforce may have an impact on your income and healthcare benefits. Benefits planners and other counselors work at your local Work Incentive Planning & Assistance Project (WIPA), or at your state Vocational Rehabilitation agency. To find one near you, visit the Resource Map on this site and click on your state. You can also go to the Service Provider Directory at Social Security’s Work Site by Clicking Here. Then click on the WIPA or Rehab Provider in a city near you. Call the number(s) provided to make an appointment.
2. Register for a free WISE event
To learn about Work Incentives (including Ticket to Work) and how they may help you in an informal and accessible setting, register for a FREE WISE event. Visit www.cessi.net/WISE and click on your state to register for an event near you. You can also check out our “virtual” WISE experience here at ChooseWork.net by clicking on the WISE EVENT tab.
3. Talk with Employment Networks
Providers authorized through the Ticket to Work program to offer employment-related support services that help people prepare for, find or maintain employment are called “Employment Networks”. Examples of “employment-related support services” are career counseling, job placement & coaching, training & education, among other supports. Some professionals at Employment Networks can be well-equipped to help you set employment goals and make an individualized work plan (IWP) to reach them. You may need to shop around a while before finding an Employment Network that is right for you. To begin, visit the Resource Map on this site and click on your state. Or, visit www.yourtickettowork.com/endir and enter your zip-code to find a provider in your area.
